You know that lately I’ve been wondering what dating is defined as now a days. You have dating that you can do in person when you meet someone locally. Then you have online dating that has websites like eHarmony or ChristianCafe that helps you to connect with others via the internet. Another way is long distance dating with someone that you met locally who then moved away.

Whichever way that you use to define dating, one must admit that dating has changed over the last twenty years. As a matter of fact, I can remember when it was part of the dating process for your date to meet the parents (regardless if you were female or male). No I’m not talking about back in the 50’s or 60’s, I’m talking about just in the 80’s.

Now, the parents are lucky if they are invited to the wedding (if one happens). Where are we headed as a nation in regards to dating and the Christian environment. We are suppose to be “peculiar”, “set apart”, or even “adopted into the kingdom” when it comes to our dating habits. Can it be that we have tried to assimilate the world into our environment to make it more comfortable for non-Christians that we have lost our flavor?
